Elderly people may have lived in their home environment with characteristic sounds for a long period. For such people, a change in living environment from their home to a facility for the elderly may also change their sound environment. In this study, we examined the kinds of sounds heard in facilities for the elderly, based on the experience of students who received practical training in these facilities. The students were asked to describe the sounds they heard, with the aim of clarifying the sound environment in the facilities. The results suggested that inorganic sounds caused by equipment and machines and sounds caused by nursing-care procedures accounted for most sounds in the facilities, and that the sound environment did not include many sounds from the outside, including natural sounds. In addition, the sounds that caused negative feelings in the students included those made by the elderly people due to pain, noisy mechanical sounds, and sounds that caused the students to feel hurried. In contrast, the students noted preferable sounds that included genial, peaceful, and joyful sounds, such as laughing and talking of the elderly people, music provided as recreation, and TV sounds.}, pages = {87--92}, title = {高齢者施設の音環境に関する一考察--学生の捉えたサウンドスケープから}, volume = {31}, year = {2010} }
