Subjects were 64 third and 63 second year students. Theresponse rate among third and second year students was 82.8 and 93.7%, respectively. Both third and second year students considered late June the most appropriate time of preceptor teaching. It is necessary to allow second year students to prepare themselves earlier and take time to undergo thorough training. It is desirable to provide orientation for basic nursing training at an earlier period of the following year, so that they can implement and receive preceptor-based technical training with a sufficient understanding of its necessity. One specific subject of advice is \"measurement of vital signs\", and another should be selected by third year students according to the characteristics of the hospital ward, which is expected to develop their sense of responsibility. The efectiveness of preceptor-based technical training has been supported because both third and second year students hoped that they would provide or undergo it the following year as well.
